1/12 Scale Re-creation of the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1

The Tamiya 14098 kit recreates the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1, the bike Valentino Rossi rode to success in his debut Yamaha season. The model reflects the important updates introduced that year, such as the revised swing arm and the aluminium twin-spar deltabox frame that influenced the bike's behaviour on track.

Engine and Racing Context

Rossi's switch to Yamaha in 2004 was pivotal. The YZR-M1 used a 990cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine tuned for improved traction and quicker response, and the kit represents those features via detailed engine and chassis components.

Contents and Display Options

The Tamiya 14098 provides a faithful 1/12 static model with a compact in-line 4-cylinder engine. The removable bodywork reveals the engine and transmission, and the kit includes synthetic rubber tyres plus poly caps to aid fitting.

  • Scale: 1/12
  • Overall Length: 172mm
  • Material: Synthetic rubber tyres, poly caps
  • Assembly Type: Static display model
  • Decals: Cartograf decals for Rossi's No.46 and Abe's No.11
The kit includes Cartograf decals for both Rossi's No.46 and Abe's No.11, allowing you to choose either rider's livery for display.
The engine is modelled in compact in-line 4-cylinder form with visible external components once the cowling is removed, suitable for close-up display.
Use standard plastic modelling cement for most parts and a small amount of cyanoacrylate for delicate joins; test on spare parts if unsure.
