The Tamiya 1/12 Yamaha YZR-M1 kit recreates the look and engineering of the 2004 MotoGP machines. It represents the bikes raced by Carlos Checa and Marco Melandri, who both delivered notable performances that season. The classic YZR-M1 layout featured a 990cc in-line four-cylinder engine, which was a key part of Yamaha's push against the Honda RC211V. The scale model captures the bike's compact race geometry and engineering cues.
The 2004 championship year brought memorable results for Yamaha, with Rossi winning the title while team mates added strong individual results. Checa achieved a podium in France and Melandri performed well in Spain and Holland. Finished examples of this kit display authentic race lines and period-correct graphics, suitable for a motorsport collection.
The kit reproduces the engine area and surrounding drivetrain so builders can study mechanical detail when panels are removed. Synthetic rubber tyres are used to emulate racing slicks and Cartograf decals provide crisp markings. A rider-specific Melandri seat cowl is included to enhance authenticity.
