The Tamiya Ray Spear (VZ) presents a striking futuristic shell conceived by the same designer behind the Dual Ridge Jr. and DCR-01. Its form is aimed at reducing drag while providing a sporty silhouette for competitive runs and display.
The body comes in clear green ABS with a removable canopy, so you can run it as either open or closed top. It is fitted with dark silver spiral type 6-spoke wheels and black, small diameter super hard low-profile tyres that give a purposeful, race-oriented look.
The VZ chassis is compact yet reinforced around high-stress zones such as the bumper and rear stay base to resist impacts. It utilises low-friction POM 620 plastic bearings for smoother power transfer and is delivered with a 3.5:1 gear ratio installed.
A broad selection of Grade-Up Parts are available to refine the Ray Spear's behaviour. Popular upgrades include motor swaps, alternate gear ratios, and experimenting with tyre compounds to suit different circuit types.
The kit includes colour-moulded components for easier assembly. A Type 130 motor is supplied in the box and the model operates from two AA batteries, which must be purchased separately.
