Product introduction

The Tamiya Night Hunter pairs aggressive race styling with practical Mini 4WD engineering. Built on the FM-A chassis, it offers a stable platform that responds well to setup changes and tuning.

Race-inspired body design

The body is shaped to reduce drag and maintain stability at speed. Its contours help channel air cleanly and support consistent lap times when tuned correctly.

FM-A chassis performance layout

The FM-A front-mid motor placement shifts mass forward to lower the centre of gravity and improve cornering behaviour on varied track features. The chassis includes a front skid bar, robust rollers and accessible motor mount points.

Upgrade paths and compatibility

This kit is compatible with a range of common Mini 4WD upgrades, including:

  • Motors: Swap in higher-output 130 motors to increase acceleration and top speed.
  • Tires: Select slick or low-profile tyres according to surface grip.
  • Gears: Adjust gearing to suit sprinting or long straights.
  • Dampers: Fit upgraded dampers to smooth out bumps and improve cornering.

Assembly and practical advice

With straightforward assembly steps and snap-fit components, the kit is accessible to new builders while offering scope for detailed setup work by experienced racers.

Specifications

  • Chassis Type: FM-A
  • Body Style: Aerodynamic Race Car
  • Motor Compatibility: Standard 130 Single-Shaft Motors
  • Wheel Type: Slick Tires

The Tamiya Night Hunter on an FM-A chassis is a solid choice for hobbyists who want a tuneable, race-oriented Mini 4WD that is easy to maintain and upgrade.

They look great & I can't wait to start assembling!
Kits typically omit motors and batteries, so plan to fit a standard 130 single-shaft motor and suitable cells to get the car running.
Lowering ride height, optimising roller positions and trying small gear ratio changes are effective starting points for better handling.
Check roller screws, gear mesh and body mounts after your first runs. Routine inspection prevents issues and keeps lap times consistent.
On high grip surfaces try softer compound slicks or slightly wider tyres to improve contact and reduce sliding through corners.
