The Tamiya 21148 set captures the Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Fighter marked as the Type 52-Kou flown by the 343rd Flying Corps in the 1944 Guam actions. Included in Tamiya's Masterwork Series, the finished model reflects accurate period detail and the story of the aircraft that was later returned to Japan with the pilot's keepsake flag.
Reproduced at 1/48 scale, the model presents faithful proportions with a 190mm fuselage length and a 229mm wingspan. The kit includes crisp pad-printed insignia, refined photo-etched parts for tiny fittings, and a seated pilot figure to enhance cockpit realism.
The completed example shows convincing weathering across the airframe and burn-effect finish on exhausts to suggest real service wear. Metal parts like pitot tubes are used to heighten the sense of authenticity, making it suitable for museum-style displays or detailed dioramas.
