The Honda RS1000 made an impact in endurance racing through reliable performance and sound design. This 1/12 scale completed model by Tamiya 21150 reproduces the 1981 race bike, featuring the air-cooled 4-stroke DOHC engine based on the CB900F. The model honours the bike's competition record, including a second-place finish overall and a win at the Suzuka 8 Hour endurance race.
Compared to the kit, the completed model includes several refined touches: an upgraded cowl screen, mesh-style pipes to present braided hoses, and extra small parts such as breather piping and front brake cables. The engine is carefully painted, drive sprockets and chain are modelled with precision, and exhaust pipes show nuanced gradation. Small metallic stickers on the fork add realistic highlights for collectors.
