Collectors and builders who enjoy historical accuracy will find this two-piece set useful for mixed displays. It pairs the Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien fighter with the small Type 95 Kurogane 4x4, both faithful to period appearance and function.
The Ki-61-Id stands out in Japanese wartime design by using a liquid-cooled engine, contributing to its distinctive nose shape. This version carries 20mm cannon in an extended nose and 12.7mm guns in the wings, making it suitable for confronting large enemy bombers.
In 1/48 scale the kit reproduces engine components, ammo boxes and the oil cooler in fine detail. You can choose to build the canopy open or closed and remove the upper engine cowling to display internal detail. Masking stickers are included for canopy edges and two marking options represent aircraft from the 244th Air Group.
The compact Type 95 Kurogane acted as a reliable reconnaissance and liaison vehicle across different theatres. This model captures its small footprint, includes decals and metal transfers for accurate insignia, and supplies figure parts for a driver and a commander to animate the model.
