The Tamiya 1/48 Messerschmitt Me262 A-2a and Kettenkraftrad kit offers a historically informed scale model of the pioneering jet fighter and its towing vehicle. The set focuses on accurate proportions and period features preferred by collectors.
Prompted by severe bombing campaigns, the A-2a configuration was used as a fighter-bomber under direct orders. It was fitted with two 30mm MK108 cannon and an auxiliary fuel tank, enabling bomb loads up to around one tonne. The kit captures these specific characteristics for reference builds.
The included Kettenkraftrad half-track motorcycle demonstrates why small tracked vehicles were used for ground handling when larger tugs were unavailable. Its gearing layout of three forward speeds and one reverse helped it traverse rough surfaces, a notion reproduced in the model parts.
