The Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien, nicknamed "Tony", saw extensive wartime service with the Imperial Japanese Army. Its Ha-40 liquid-cooled engine contributed to a tapered fuselage and a longer nose profile compared with some contemporary fighters.
Designed to tackle high-altitude threats, the Ki-61-Id engaged aircraft such as the B29 with squadrons like the 244th Air Group under Captain Teruhiko Kobayashi deploying the type. Tamiya's 25424 captures that character using silver colour plated components and detailed camouflage decals for an accurate display model.
Suggested finishes include Tamiya AS-18 Light Gray for main surfaces and LP-5 Semi Gloss Black for trim. Additional items such as a 1.0mm drill bit and Panel Line Accent Colors can help emphasise fine moulded detail.
