The Tamiya 31211 1/700 scale Japanese Aircraft Carrier Taiho model captures a short but notable service history. Completed in March 1944, Taiho incorporated progressive carrier features but was sunk by a submarine attack roughly three months after commissioning.
This kit reproduces the carrier's armored flight deck and enclosed bow, and provides finely moulded bridge and anti-aircraft detail. Options include fitting the mast for either cruising or combat stance, and assembling the elevators in raised or lowered positions.
The Taiho is a rewarding subject for those focused on scale accuracy and presentation. The kit includes parts to model Mitsubishi A6M5 fighters and Nakajima B6N torpedo bombers, enhancing the historic appearance of the finished model.
