Tamiya 31408 1/700 IJN Destroyer Shikinami - Historical Scale Kit

The Tamiya 1/700 IJN Destroyer Shikinami model captures a wartime destroyer that served in the Pacific theatre. Shikinami completed multiple Guadalcanal supply runs and fought at Sunda Strait and the Eastern Solomons before a US submarine sank her in 1944.

Role and War Service

Built as a Type II "Special Type" destroyer, Shikinami combined speed with considerable armament. This model shows the vessel in its late war fit, highlighting the added anti-aircraft equipment used in later engagements.

Parts, Finishing and Display

The kit features crisply moulded funnels, searchlights and masts. Model builders can use Ayanami parts to recreate earlier versions of the ship. Waterslide decals are included for accurate insignia and a metal weight is supplied to improve the finished model's balance on display.
