This 1/48 model represents the compact Type 95 Kurogane, a useful subject for those building airfield or field command scenes. Tamiya released the first injection-moulded plastic version of this vehicle in any scale, making it a reference piece for miniature military collections.
Introduced in 1935, about 4,800 Type 95 vehicles were produced up to 1944. The air-cooled V2 petrol engine and rugged suspension made the vehicle suitable for liaison, reconnaissance and transporting staff over uneven terrain. The kit mirrors these practical attributes to aid accurate modelling.
The kit offers precise engineering for clean assembly and realistic proportions without being overly intricate. A metal transfer replicates the grille star and two figures are supplied, a Japanese Army Air Force officer and a driver, which help situate the vehicle in 1/48 dioramas alongside period aircraft.
