The JS-2 was introduced as a heavy breakthrough tank in World War II, featuring a 122mm main gun and substantial armor that challenged German heavy armour. Initial production began December 1943, and by August 1944 modifications like the deleted front glacis hatch raised frontal protection. The Chelyabinsk Kirov factory (ChKZ) produced many of these tanks, which saw action against German forces.
The Tamiya 32571 1/48 scale kit recreates the JS-2s profile and surface detail in a compact format that suits collectors and diorama builders alike.
This kit models the cast finish on the turret and hull for a realistic look. The included assembly tracks allow modelled sag and enhance authenticity. A commander figure is supplied to place in the cupola, and two marking choices provide flexible finishing options.
