The 1/48 Challenger 2 from Tamiya reproduces a British main battle tank in a compact, model-friendly scale. The operational history includes use by the 7th Armoured Brigade in 2003, and the full-size vehicle is notable for carrying an engine evolution from the Challenger 1, plus double-pin tracks and a recognisable turret arrangement.
This kit brings out features such as the canvas skirts, the square muffler cover and combat identification panels. The barrel can be adjusted for elevation, and authentic weld marks and skirt rippling give the model a convincing, lived-in appearance after painting.
The model uses a plastic chassis with assembly-style tracks provided as straight sections to simplify the build. A metal weight in the chassis adds solidity to the finished model for shelf display. The set includes a commander torso and decal options to represent a vehicle from the 2003 Iraqi theatre.
