Introduction to the Tamiya 35087 1/35 Sturmgeschuetz IV kit

The Sturmgeschuetz IV served as an important support vehicle, giving infantry direct access to heavy gunfire without relying on tank units. Originating pre-war and refined as combat needs changed, it became a common sight in several theatres. The Tamiya kit recreates this machine at 1/35 scale for hobby display and study.

Development and combat service

Conceived to provide armoured firepower within infantry formations, the Sturmgeschuetz IV built on existing tank chassis developments. Production was limited to about 1,000 examples, and the type was heavily employed on the Eastern Front where its versatility was valuable.

Features and finish

This detailed kit includes precise external moulding, the characteristic forward assault gun and realistic rubber tracks. Surface features such as Zimmerit and other structural details are modelled to assist a convincing finish when painted.
