The Tamiya 35130 kit recreates the Ford M151 MUTT, which succeeded the M38A1 "Jeep" following its development in the early 1950s by Ford in cooperation with the U.S. Army. The real vehicle featured an OHV engine, semi-monocoque construction and independent suspension. This kit reflects those engineering points and portrays the MUTT's diverse battlefield roles in the Vietnam War era, including use as a combat ambulance and as a platform for missile systems.

Partnering the MUTT in this kit is the M416 cargo trailer, modelled to reflect the logistical trailers used in the period. The trailer increases display realism and demonstrates the MUTT's practical transport and supply capabilities.
