The Universal Carrier Mk.II is a classic example of wartime utility engineering. Small, tracked and adaptable, it carried out a range of support tasks and remains a staple subject for military modellers who favour historically grounded builds.
Originating from early carrier experiments, the Mk.II reached a mature form by the early 1940s. With a Ford V-8 under the bonnet and light armament such as a Bren gun, it was employed across varied terrain for liaison, reconnaissance and light transport roles.
The Tamiya kit reproduces the carrier with accurate panel detail, flexible track sections and five crew figures. Included stowage items like packs and holsters enable modellers to stage authentic wartime setups and weathering practice.
