Developed through the 1980s and adopted in 1990, the Type 90 represents Japan's move to a modern main battle tank platform. Its engineering and form provide rich reference for accurate scale reproduction.
The Type 90 mounts a 120mm smoothbore gun supported by a sophisticated fire control arrangement, allowing precise targeting. The model reflects the vehicle's armour contours and external fittings, useful for realistic paintwork and detailing.
Tamiya models the Type 90s principal weapons and external features, including the coaxial 7.62mm and turret 12.7mm positions. Clean mould lines and clearly defined parts simplify assembly and give room for extra detailing.
When finished the kit makes a strong display subject, either solo or as the centrepiece of a modern military diorama. The scale and detail level make it attractive to collectors focused on contemporary armoured vehicles.
