The Tamiya 35211 captures the JS-3 Stalin Russian Heavy Tank in 1/35 scale as a display model. The real JS-3 made a notable public appearance at the Berlin victory parade on September 7, 1945, and is distinguished by its single-piece cast turret and prominent bow profile.
The JS-3 advanced Soviet armour design with a 122mm L/43 gun similar to the JS-2. Its diesel engine put out around 520 horsepower, giving it a top speed near 40 km/h. While its role in European combat is disputed, it is generally accepted the JS-3 saw action against Japanese forces in Manchuria in August 1945. Its form influenced later tank design approaches.
This 1/35 scale kit is moulded in dark green plastic with over 210 parts for an accurate external representation. Features include separate suspension arms to ensure correct wheel and track alignment, one-piece rubber tracks for tidy fitting, and optional turret hatch parts. A commander figure is included to add life to display scenes.
