The Tiger I is noted for its robust armour and the potent 8.8cm KwK 36 L/56 gun, first seen in action in North Africa late in 1942. Henschel and Porsche competed on designs, and the Henschel prototype was selected for mass production from about August 1942. Later modifications like air pre-cleaners and reinforced mantlets followed, so early production vehicles produced between November 1942 and July 1943 are of particular interest.
Tamiya's 1/35 kit recreates the early Tiger I with more than 200 carefully moulded parts, combining external fidelity with select interior turret elements. A tank commander figure is included for realism on display bases, and the single-piece flexible rubber tracks are supplied to reduce assembly complexity while maintaining an authentic appearance.
