Inside latter 1 / 2 of World War II, the Wehrmacht, having lost air superiority towards the Allies, considered the growth of anti-aircraft automobiles. Initial vehicle to utilize the framework from the Panzer IV tank as a base was in fact the personal Propelled AA Gun Mobelwagen. The mass-production model started to be manufactured in February 1944. It turned out made with a strong 3.7 Flak 43 cannon capable of firing 250 shots/min, and dense armored plates surrounding the upper part of the automobile, that might be raised or lowered for horizontal shooting. By 1945, an overall total of 240 automobiles have been produced, most of that have been deployed towards western front part, supplying a vicious defense against approaching fighters and bombers associated with the Allies.
