The German Kubelwagen Type 82, originally conceived by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, was adapted into a versatile military vehicle in World War II. Its light monocoque frame and torsion bar springs gave it dependable handling off-road, and the air-cooled four-cylinder engine made servicing straightforward for front line crews operating in tough conditions.
When used in North Africa the Kubelwagen Type 82 was often fitted with Continental balloon tyres and supplied with desert accessories such as a spare wheel, shovel and canvas canopy to improve survivability and mobility in sand. Around 51,000 units were manufactured by the war's end, underscoring its wide use.
The Tamiya 1/35 kit faithfully recreates these desert characteristics with tan-moulded plastics and detailed components including towing hooks, hood pieces and rear panels. The kit comes with wide-tread balloon tyres, a sculpted German soldier figure, waterslide decals and clear pictorial instructions to support an accurate build.
