Operational role of the Marder III M

Facing Soviet T34 and KV armour in 1941, German units upgraded from a 37mm gun to the 75mm Pak40/L46 to regain anti-tank effectiveness. The Pak40 was mounted on the Czechoslovakian 38t chassis, and the resulting Marder III M served across many fronts until replaced in its role by the Jagdpanzer 38t Hetzer.
