Tamiya 35286 Sd.Kfz.222 - North African Campaign edition

First released in 1975, the Tamiya 1/35 German Armored Car Sd.Kfz.222 has been a staple for scale military modellers. This North Africa edition brings that classic subject up to date with added detail parts and figures.

Historical note and kit overview

The Sd.Kfz.222 performed reconnaissance and liaison tasks, often operating across desert terrain during World War II. Tamiya's kit captures the vehicle profile and provides the parts necessary to build an accurate representation.

This reissue features photo-etched components for fine detail, an aluminium gun barrel to sharpen the gunline, and crew figures including a commander and radio operator. The set also contains a DKW NZ350 motorcycle with rider to complement display scenes.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/35
  • Material: Plastic with photo-etched and aluminium parts
  • Figures: Commander, radio operator, and motorcycle rider included
  • Decals: Three Afrika Korps versions

Excellent Service, Prompt Deliveries, Good Prices. One of the best, if not the best, model e-shop I have dealt with. Strongly Recommended. Keep Up the Good Work.
This kit suits modellers with some experience, particularly due to the photo-etched parts and metal barrel. Novices can still achieve a good result with patience and familiarising themselves with basic metal-to-plastic techniques.
The kit includes three Afrika Korps decal options that match common markings for the North African theatre. For unit-specific markings, consult reference material or aftermarket decal suppliers.
Trim any plastic sprue remnants from the barrel opening, test-fit the part, and secure it with a small amount of CA glue. Mask off surrounding areas when painting to preserve the metal finish where desired.
Yes. The DKW NZ350 and rider are separate components that can be adjusted or reposed slightly to suit your vignette. Careful trimming and pinning help create custom poses.
