Tamiya 35303 JSU-152 1/35 scale Soviet heavy SP gun model

The Tamiya 1/35 JSU-152 kit provides a realistic representation of a WWII Soviet heavy self-propelled gun. It saw service at major engagements including Kursk and the Battle of Berlin, and was used to counter German heavy armour.

Historical background and nickname

Built on the JS-2 chassis, the JSU-152 reached frontlines in 1943 and earned the moniker "Zveroboy" or "beast killer" for its capability against heavily armoured targets. Its ML-20S 152mm howitzer enabled both direct and indirect fire roles.

Construction features and detailing

The kit captures cast metal textures and includes detailed items such as the DShK machine gun and photo-etched engine grilles. Builders can choose between belt or assembly-style tracks, and the set contains markings and figures for an accurate finish.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/35
  • Material: Plastic with photo-etched parts
  • Includes: 1 commander and 1 loader figure
  • Markings: Four kinds included
The kit recreates cast metal textures to suggest the original surface finish. Careful painting and weathering will further emphasise the realistic effect.
The included commander and loader are sculpted to 1/35 scale and should be compatible with other figures and accessories in the same scale for diorama use.
Work over a soft tray to catch fallen pieces, use sharp cutters and a fine file, and assemble photo-etched parts with specialist tools. A steady, patient approach reduces the risk of damage.
