BT-7 in Scale: Tamiya 35309 Overview

The Tamiya 35309 kit models the Soviet BT-7 cavalry tank at 1/35 scale, with careful attention to hull lines and running gear. Its compact parts layout reflects the BT-7s design and allows accurate recreation of its sloped armour and road wheel arrangement.

Historical Notes

The BT-7 grew from Christie inspired concepts and was prized for mobility, using coil spring suspension and a powerful engine to reach speeds around 31 mph in service. The vehicle could also be adapted for wheeled road travel by removing its tracks.

Kit Components and Construction

This model supplies photo-etched elements, a metal towing chain and a bending jig for finer parts. Clear components are included for the headlight lens and vision guard, and the link-type tracks are designed for correct straight section assembly.

  • Scale: 1/35
  • Length: 161mm
  • Width: 65mm
  • Includes photo-etched parts and metal towing chain
  • Link-type assembly tracks with one-piece straight sections
  • Clear parts for headlight lens and vision guard
Use model plastic cement for the main assemblies and CA glue sparingly for metal or etched parts; fine files, tweezers and a bending tool will make construction easier.
A small diorama base or a simple plinth with a neutral background highlights the tank; consider subtle weathering to bring out panel detail and realism.
