Alongside its weapons business, the Birmingham Small Arms Company produced civilian and military motorcycles. The BSA M20, in service from 1939, was configured for wartime use with features like a Lucas headlamp and reinforced mounts. Its 500cc single cylinder engine delivered roughly 12hp and earned a reputation for reliability.
Tamiya's 1/35 rendition replicates notable M20 characteristics such as suspension details, the air filter on the fuel tank and the carrying saddlebags. The package contains two figures - a courier rider seated on the machine and a military police officer - alongside decals showing MP insignia for authentic finishing.
The kit is suitable for constructing compact wartime vignettes. With supplied road signage evocative of Normandy, modellers can set a convincing scene. Patience with small parts and surface finishing will yield a highly convincing small scale display.
