Ford GPA 1/35 scale kit by Tamiya

The Ford GPA, popularly known as the "seep" because it combined sea-going capability with jeep practicality, saw service with US forces and later with Soviet units during the Second World War. Sharing mechanical parts with Ford's GPW, around 12,800 GPAs were produced by 1943, marking it as a distinct amphibious vehicle of the period.

Tamiya's 1/35 interpretation replaces the earlier U.S. Amphibian Ford GPA Kit (Item 35043) with revised components and refined detail. The updated mouldings aim to give modellers a more authentic, buildable miniature of this unique vehicle.

Model Features and Presentation Tips

Notable elements include an opening engine bonnet exposing a modelled engine, a well-crafted interior and driving compartment, and photo-etched parts for precise small-scale details such as the grille. These aspects make the finished model suitable for display or for inclusion in a historical diorama.

The kit supplies a driver figure plus two infantry passengers to enhance visual storytelling. Builders who invest time in careful painting and subtle weathering will achieve a convincing representation of the Ford GPA in service.
