The M1A2 Abrams is a prominent example of late 20th century tank development, following the M1 first fielded in 1980. Its slab sided silhouette and gas turbine drive are distinctive features, while the 1992 M1A2 enhancements added capabilities such as a CITV thermal sight and an IVIS communications system.
Tamiya has produced a 1/16 rendition that mirrors the M1A2s external layout, enabling modellers to recreate an accurate static example. The variant was widely deployed in the 2003 Iraq operations, and the kit is suitable for display cabinets and detailed tabletop scenes.
