The Hawker Hurricane played a central role in early Second World War air operations. Originating in the 1930s, the Hurricane Mk.I was a low-wing monoplane with a robust build and fabric-covered rear fuselage that entered service in late 1937. Though not as fast as some contemporary fighters, the Hurricane excelled in intercepting bomber formations and was produced in large quantities for several air forces.
Tamiya's 1/48 rendition captures the Hurricane Mk.I proportions and surface detail precisely. The kit contains photo-etched parts for cockpit enhancement, and the engine cowling is removable to display the Merlin engine detail after construction. Builders get two spinner/propeller choices, three figures (two pilots plus a commander), and six decal marking options, accompanied by a 36-page Photographic Reference Manual for finishing guidance.
