Engineered Touring Performance in the TRF420
The Tamiya TRF420 chassis kit takes the TRF419 concept further with targeted refinements that enhance tunability and long-term reliability. It is aimed at those who want a responsive platform that is straightforward to set up for different race conditions.
Belt Drive and Pulley Enhancements
Featuring a belt-driven 4WD layout with a rear gear differential and front/centre direct pulley system, the TRF420 aims for smooth, controllable power delivery. New diff pulley and case components reduce weight by about 1.5g and help limit oil leakage to maintain consistent diff performance.
The front direct pulley now includes a plastic integrated part that saves around 2g and eases maintenance by enabling direct cup replacement without stripping the whole pulley assembly.
Wide Suspension Adjustment Capability
The updated suspension arms use bushing inserts to vary lever ratios, giving a broad set of tuning options for traction and roll response. Rear arms offset by 3mm allow a shorter lower deck and help increase rear grip. Multiple suspension mount and bushing positions expand settings for toe, roll centre and caster.
Steering improvements include a revised linkage and pivot component, helping racers make fast adjustments to steering character between runs.
Reduced Mass for Improved Handling
Weight reductions include lighter wheel axles, around 1.5g less than earlier parts, and robust 3mm stainless suspension shafts for increased stiffness. These refinements contribute to a balanced chassis that reacts well to tuning changes.
