The Tamiya 42389 TRF104 is a 1/10 scale Formula chassis combining carbon fibre construction with aluminium fittings to produce a stiff, responsive package. It is intended for competitors who invest time in setup and component choice.

Revised suspension for controlled handling

Both front and rear suspension have been reworked to improve control. The front assembly uses adjustable plastic upper A-arms for camber settings from +1 to -3 degrees and a range of caster increments to tailor steering character.

At the rear, the removal of conventional suspension links and T-bars in favour of ball connectors enables a central roll system. This layout allows you to control roll speed with friction grease and roll dampers while the FRP suspension plate and TRF damper provide stable damping.

Compact component layout to aid traction

The design positions the battery, receiver and servo centrally to enhance rear-end grip and reduce the likelihood of traction loss during hard cornering or acceleration.

Broad setup choices for different circuits

The motor mount offers 0.8mm incremental ride height changes and two wheelbase options to shift handling bias. Four steering linkage configurations change the steering feel to suit personal preference.

The rear differential borrows proven parts from the TRF103 and the light carbon fibre shaft helps durability with heavier tyre choices. Dual rear wing mounts provide additional tuning for high speed stability.
