Tamiya 54471 Steel Diff for a Stronger TA06 Rear End

The Tamiya 54471 Steel Gear Differential is intended to fortify the TA06 rear gearbox by replacing plastic internals with metal bevel gears and a strengthened cross shaft. The outcome is a more durable rear drive that copes better with sustained use compared with stock components. Compatibility covers TA06, TA06 PRO, FF-03R and XV-01 chassis variants.

Parts Included

The kit delivers all parts needed to convert the rear differential to metal gearing. Contents include the following items:

  • Rear Gear Case Set x1
  • Gear Differential Cup Joint Set x1
  • Gear Differential Gasket x1
  • Bevel Gears: Large x2, Small x4
  • Gear Cross Shaft

Installation and Compatibility Notes

This differential installs into the listed Tamiya chassis. Note that a stock FF-03 requires the 54398 FF03 Gear Case for proper installation. The upgrade helps maintain consistent handling and reduces the likelihood of gear failure under competitive conditions.

Yes, the 54471 is listed as compatible with the XV-01 chassis and will replace the rear differential internals where applicable.
Metal gears can sound different from plastic counterparts but proper assembly and lubrication will minimise excessive noise while delivering superior durability.
Inspect bevel gear teeth, the cross shaft and the mating surfaces in the rear gear case regularly, and replace any components showing significant wear to keep performance consistent.
