Optimise Rear Downforce with Tamiya 54773

The Tamiya 54773 Aluminum Adjustable Wing Stay is a compact, tuneable fitting for 1/10 on-road RC cars aimed at racers who like to tweak aerodynamics. It provides a straightforward way to alter the wing attitude and behaviour.

Adjust in Defined Steps

The stay offers angle changes in 8-degree steps, spanning from 8 to 32 degrees. These defined increments make it easy to compare setup changes and record results run to run.

Rearward Extension Options

This design can position the wing 10mm or 20mm further back than earlier parts such as 54510, giving extra influence on pitch and rear grip. The chosen attachment point sets the offset.

Body Fitment and Wing Choices

Suited to touring bodies that can accept extra mounting holes, the stay mates with a variety of Tamiya wings, for example:

  • 54729 RC Racing Wing Carbon Pattern
  • 54688 RC Racing Wing Set 2 Carbon Pattern
  • 54494 RC Racing Wing Set 2
  • 54458 RC Racing Wing B
  • 54457 RC Racing Wing A
  • 53604 RC Racing Wing Set
  • 53470 RC Lightweight Wing Carbon

Note: Wing blades sold separately.

Moving the wing rearward usually adds rear grip and high-speed stability, which can improve consistency through fast sections, though corner entry may feel slower.
The stay comes with standard mounting hardware, but check the package contents to confirm if replacement or different-length screws are required for your body.
Foam shells may need reinforcement around mounting holes. Use backing plates or washers to spread load and prevent tearing.
It can fit older styles if you can add the required attachment points. Check body shape and allow enough clearance for the wing at full angle.
Begin with a neutral angle, then change one step at a time and record handling changes. Small, systematic tweaks help you learn how aerodynamics affect balance.
