Heritage and Design of the Baja King

The Tamiya 58301 - 1/10 Baja King brings together classic off-road styling and a practical chassis layout. Built on the TL-01B, it channels the spirit of the Baja 1000 with a pipe-frame look and a light polycarbonate body shell that recalls traditional desert buggies.

Chassis Balance and Control

The modified TL-01B chassis features extended suspension arms and longer damping travel to help smooth out bumps and jumps. With selectable gear ratios of 7.96, 7.20, or 6.57, you can tune the drive response for tighter tracks or open straights.

Plenty of Scope for Upgrades

The Baja King is designed to accept many optional parts to improve performance or durability. Fitted with star dish wheels and spire spike tyres, it shares a number of parts with the Baja Champ, making spares and upgrades easy to source.

The Baja King works well for newcomers and experienced hobbyists who want a reliable, adaptable buggy to run as-is or develop with upgrades and tuning work.

Basic modelling experience helps, but the kit is assembled with common tools and clear instructions, so an enthusiastic beginner can complete it with patience.
Choose the mid-range gear for balanced performance; lower ratios give better acceleration on loose surfaces while higher ratios favour top speed on harder ground.
Regular checks of suspension bushings, driveshafts and wheel hubs will keep the buggy running reliably. Clean and relube moving parts after wet or gritty runs to extend component life.
