When it debuted in 1988 the Avante made a lasting impression for its ahead-of-its-time layout. Tamiya brings that lineage back with the Avante Mk.II, now supported by the DF-03 chassis to offer heritage styling alongside contemporary mechanicals.
The Avante Mk.II body is moulded in lightweight polycarbonate to retain the classic silhouette while improving airflow. High-density spike tyres recreate the nostalgic stance and provide good bite on loose and uneven surfaces.
The DF-03 chassis is fitted with compact front and rear gearboxes that house sealed ball differentials for protection against dirt. Full ball bearings throughout the driveline lower friction, and the four-wheel independent double wishbone setup with long suspension arms gives consistent wheel control.
The kit includes a Type 540 motor capable of delivering usable torque for off-road runs. An electronic speed controller is required but not supplied, allowing you to choose an ESC that matches your motor and battery selection.
The Tamiya Avante Mk.II DF-03 is well suited to collectors and active hobbyists who want period styling with practical chassis engineering. It offers a straightforward build and adaptable performance for off-road use.
