From Road Car to WRC Competitor

The Suzuki SX4 was transformed from a compact five-door into a WRC contender featuring a widened body, upgraded suspension and a turbocharged 300hp engine. Its 2008 Monte Carlo Rally debut with drivers Toni Gardemeister and Per-Gunnar Andersson demonstrated its point-scoring ability on an international stage.

Enhanced TT-01 Type-E Chassis Details

The Tamiya 58408 is built on the TT-01 Type-E platform which brings several structural and handling improvements. New A Parts and D Parts are produced in fiberglass reinforced resin to boost durability and make routine maintenance easier. The steering linkage now uses TA05 steering posts for improved feedback, and the reinforced upper deck increases chassis stiffness while offering a transponder mount for timing and events.

Scale-Accurate WRC Body Components

The kit supplies a polycarbonate SX4 WRC body that is both lightweight and true to the rally silhouette, plus injection molded mirrors and a rear wing for realism. Metal-plated light cases are compatible with LEDs for working lights. Included electronics are a Type 540 motor and a TEU-101BK ESC so the basic drivetrain is supplied out of the box.

Some basic experience helps but even beginners can achieve good results by using polycarbonate paints, careful masking and trimming the shell to the guidelines marked on the body.
Routine checks include cleaning debris from driveline parts, checking screw tightness, inspecting suspension for wear and keeping the gearbox lubricated to prolong life and performance.
Yes, with appropriate tuning and option parts the TT-01 Type-E chassis can be set up for club-level competition; many racers upgrade shocks, tyres and gearing to meet local track demands.
The chassis accepts a variety of motors and ESCs so converting to a brushless setup is a common upgrade for increased power and efficiency when you want faster lap times.
