Heritage racing with the Tamiya 58502 Zen

The Tamiya 58502 Zen captures a classic Mini 4WD design updated for precise track performance. Built around the Super-II chassis, it suits racers who prioritise predictable handling and incremental setup changes.

Balanced Super-II platform

The ABS resin Super-II bathtub chassis provides a rigid foundation with a rear motor and rear-wheel drive layout. That configuration helps maintain consistent weight balance for controlled cornering and reliable straight-line speed.

Advanced independent geometry

Featuring 4-wheel independent double wishbones and C.V.A. oil-filled shocks plus monocoque lower arms, the suspension setup is designed to tame bumps and maintain tyre contact through varied race sections.

Optimised tyre characteristics

Front tyres show a spiked profile with three ribs to stabilise steering, while the rear tyres combine spikes with an X-type tread for improved drive traction. The pairing supports confident entry and exit through fast corners.

A mix of classic design and track-focused engineering, the Tamiya 58502 Zen is suited to hobbyists who enjoy setup work and consistent race performance.

This kit targets intermediate to advanced builders who are comfortable with painting, trimming resin parts and fine-tuning suspension and tyres for track conditions.
Use hobby-grade spray paints and an appropriate primer for resin. Light coats and patience produce the best surface finish and reduce the risk of runs or orange peel.
Increase damping and reduce ride height slightly for high-grip surfaces. Small tyre pressure or compound changes and minor weight shifts can improve lap consistency.
Common wear items such as tyres, shocks and drive components are generally available from hobby suppliers. Keep spare parts on hand to reduce downtime between sessions.
