The De Havilland Mosquito became famous for its wooden airframe which allowed designers to achieve an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. Equipped with two Merlin engines, the type served in fast bombing, interception and reconnaissance roles where speed was crucial.
Although unconventional at first, the Mosquito proved effective in multiple theatres. The night-fighter variants carried radar and extra armament for interception duties, while the FB Mk.VI undertook ground attack and anti-shipping operations, showing the platform's broad operational use.
