The P-47D Thunderbolt, often called the Razorback because of its raised dorsal fuselage, was a robust single-seat fighter of World War II. With a supercharged powerplant delivering about 2000hp, it could operate at the altitudes required for bomber escort duties. Armed with eight 12.7mm machineguns, the type was effective both in air combat and in ground attack thanks to its payload and sturdy construction.
Tamiya's 1/72 interpretation represents the early P-47D with faithful rear fuselage lines and belly contours. The design uses left-right symmetric construction and internal joining beams to help ensure correct wing alignment and a structurally sound assembly.
