The Ilyushin IL-2 Shturmovik became a cornerstone of wartime ground-attack forces and saw very high production numbers, topping 36,000 airframes. Launched as a single-seat design in March 1941, it evolved into a two-seat configuration to improve combat operations, and wing refinements in late 1943 enhanced its handling.
The Tamiya 1/72 IL-2 kit provides a faithful small-scale reproduction measuring 162mm long with a 203mm wingspan. The kit models the intake duct and the radiator and oil cooler assemblies, and it includes a neatly finished two-seat cockpit and detailed wheel wells for realistic presentation.
