The McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle has long been recognised for air superiority performance. Its first flight was in July 1972 and the airframe is powered by two Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-100 turbofan engines, enabling speeds beyond Mach 2.5. Primary armament includes an internal 20mm M-61A-1 rotary cannon together with mounts for AIM-9L Sidewinder and AIM-7F Sparrow missiles.
Originally fielded as the F-15A, the F-15C began service in 1979 with important upgrades. Internal fuel capacity increased by around 15 percent and conformal tanks were fitted to extend range, with landing gear strengthened to handle the extra weight. These improvements kept the type effective in its air superiority role.
The Tamiya 1/48 F-15C kit offers refined moulding and accurate panel detail that appeals to serious model builders. It supports painting and weathering techniques to produce either a clean museum finish or a more operational appearance for cabinet display.
