The Messerschmitt Bf109 was produced in very large numbers, exceeding 30,000 examples overall. The G-6 subtype, with approximately 13,000 produced, was adapted to meet shifting combat requirements and was driven by the DB605 engine. The twin 13mm MG131 machine guns created the signature "Beule" bulges on the engine cowling, and some aircraft carried 20mm cannon housings under the wings to augment firepower.
Active on multiple fronts, the G-6 remained a frontline fighter through much of World War II. The Tamiya 61117 kit reproduces the key features of that variant for hobbyists focused on historical fidelity.
Tamiya's engineering produces neatly fitting components in this kit, facilitating a satisfying build for experienced modellers. With careful painting and decal application the finished model makes a credible representation suitable for display or inclusion in dioramas.
