The Tamiya 70203 Low-Current Motor Gearbox is a compact teaching and prototyping component that helps illustrate gear ratios and simple power systems. It can be powered by alkaline cells or by low-voltage solar panels for versatile demonstrations.
The clear ABS body reveals the internal gear trains so users can watch how different ratios affect output. Choose from three ratios: 12.7:1, 38.2:1, and 114.7:1 to test speed versus torque. The set includes a 3mm hex drive shaft and crank plates that can be used as basic wheels.
With 35mm mounting holes the gearbox mates with Tamiya universal plates for easy installation into kits and test rigs. It is useful in small robots, solar display builds, and classroom experiments focusing on mechanics.
The gearbox accepts alkaline battery voltages from 1.5 to 3.0V and solar inputs of 0.5V or 1.5V. Power supplies are not included, allowing selection of the best source for each application.
