The Tamiya 70211 Arm Crawler Assembly Kit offers a practical introduction to mechanical systems via hands-on construction. It is part of the STEM collection, created to help learners grasp motion, gearing and structural basics.
The model uses four independent rotating tracks, with two on the body and one attached to each arm, enabling movement across different surfaces. The arms turn separately so the crawler can negotiate obstacles up to 45mm, highlighting concepts like grip and torque transfer.
Components required for building are all supplied and combine snap-fit pieces with screws for a balanced assembly experience. Simple wiring is necessary, but the motor includes a pre-wired switch to ease connection. A rear stay is provided to reduce the chance of tipping during tests.
To explore further you can fit optional parts such as the Twin-Motor Gearbox (item 70097) and the 2-Channel Remote Control Box (item 70102) to test more advanced control and power configurations.
