The Tamiya 70247 4-Track Crawler is aimed at both classroom projects and home tinkerers, offering a clear example of how tracked drive systems work. It replaces a standard four-wheel setup with three-sided crawlers to cope with uneven and irregular surfaces more reliably.
The model measures 200mm length, 103mm width and 100mm height and weighs 266g. Its belt-type tracks are driven by sprockets and run over two road wheels to maintain traction on various surfaces. The front axle can rotate around the propeller shaft which helps when negotiating obstacles and sloppy ground such as snow.
This kit assembles using snap-fit components with screws where needed, suitable for learners and hobby builders. It uses a type 130 motor and needs two AA batteries (not included). The roll bar parts are removable to accept Wild Mini 4WD Series bodies, and standard tracks can be swapped for link-type tracks (Item 70237) for enhanced grip.
