The Tamiya 71111 Mechanical Pig is a compact educational kit that clearly demonstrates mechanical motion. From the Robocraft Series, it is intended for easy construction and provides a visible head-shaking action as the model walks.

Parts, Styling and Mechanism

Featuring pink semi-transparent ABS components, the kit supplies a small gearbox, motor and a reverse switch that work together to create the head movement while the legs turn. Assembly uses both screws and snap-fit sections to make the process manageable for hobby builders.

Size, Weight and Battery Notes

The completed pig is approximately 135mm long and weighs about 95g without batteries fitted. It requires a single R04/AAA/UM4 battery (sold separately) and typical runtime on an alkaline cell is around one hour. The rear includes a slot for a small decorative flag.

Running Advice and Display Use

Use on level, smooth floors for the best walking action and avoid uneven terrain, steep gradients, or thick rugs which can jam the mechanism. Once finished, the model also makes an attractive shelf display with a mechanical twist.
