Brief Introduction

The Tamiya 75027 Line Tracing Snail II is an educational construction kit that helps users learn basic robotics and circuitry through practical assembly. The completed model follows a black line drawn on white paper, offering a clear demonstration of sensor-based navigation.

Structure and Sensors

The body and chassis are made from smoke-colored ABS resin and the kit contains two motors along with pre-wired components such as the sensing element and circuit board. An infrared LED and a phototransistor perform line detection so the snail can navigate on its own, and a green LED provides a visual signal when the line is detected.

Behaviour and Adjustment

You can adjust a speed switch and a sensor tuning dial to refine how the snail responds. When the unit senses a black line the right motor is activated to move forward and left, and when the line is lost the left motor runs to correct to the right, producing continuous line-following motion.

Great service and always on time! It would be great if you can list the things that could fit into my package in terms of weight. I will add more into my cart. Thanks for the great service! I really appreciate it.
Use a clear, solid black line of around 3mm or wider for consistent sensor performance.
A flat white sheet or board with a matte finish works best; avoid glossy papers which can reflect infrared light and confuse the sensor.
Batteries are not included. The model requires 2x R6/AA/UM3 batteries that must be supplied separately.
