The Kagero-class destroyer Yukikaze is a well known ship from World War II. Commissioned in January 1940, she served throughout the Pacific theatre including actions around the Philippines, the Solomons and the Battle of Okinawa. Surviving those campaigns, Yukikaze gained the nickname "lucky destroyer." Tamiya's 1/350 kit captures her appearance during the 1945 Ten Ichi Go operation.
This model kit provides an accurate basis for a museum-style replica. Builders can assemble the ship as a waterline model or as a full hull display. Polycaps permit rotation of guns and torpedo tubes after construction, while ABS is used for resilient mast components. Photo-etched ladders and aerials sharpen scale fidelity and metal chains boost realism on the decks. A display stand is supplied for easy showcasing.
