The Reggiane Re.2002 emerged as a development of the Re.2000 and was employed by the Italian Air Force in several wartime roles, equipped with an air-cooled engine and multiple machine guns. It participated in operations such as the Allied invasion of Sicily and some examples saw service with Allied-aligned units after the armistice.
This Tamiya 1/48 scale kit, with select airframe parts from Italeri, captures the Re.2002s slim profile and distinctive narrow cowlings. The assembled model is approximately 170mm long with a wingspan of 229mm, and the kit offers options for an open or closed canopy plus adjustable flaps to vary the final display.
Included items feature a 500kg drop tank and assorted airfield props like fuel drums and jerry cans for diorama work. The set also contains a seated pilot figure and decals representing Regia Aeronautica and Luftwaffe markings, alongside a photographic reference manual to aid accurate finishing.
